Wowzer. 11,000 of you, along for the ride 🌊🙌🏻🌈

As my IG page approached 10k followers, I thought “I’ll go to the beach and make a post to celebrate 10k”. A few days later I finally got myself to one of my favorite beaches, where I cut rose hips and made a sweet arrangement in the sand. Before I left the beach, I broke one of my rules (no social media scrolling while at the beach), and checked my IG page, only to discover that I was now closer to 11k! Realizing that I missed the 10k window, I went back and rearranged my offering. That is a lot of growth in a short amount of time!

~ Baby Moon Shell Pendant 🌖~

Years ago, I visited the Outer Banks in North Carolina, and I was in shell heaven🐚 The Baby’s Ear Moon snail was my favorite, so I revisited that form for the inspiration for this new shell pendant.

I’ve made up a few of these, and they are handcrafted in oxidized sterling silver, and accented with a petite, bright diamond, set in 18k gold. On the backside, I’ve set a watery aquamarine, to rest against the skin. These pendants come on silver bead chain. Wow! There are so many new folks here, and it’s been a bit since I posted my face, so allow me to re-introduce myself: I’m Nisa, the designer, maker, and administrator of every piece that you see on my page (no elves here, at least not in my studio). I wear many hats, among them artist, teacher, mother, consultant, and designer.

I live on the coast of Maine, and delight in losing my sense of time among the mossy forests and ocean’s edge. It’s such a quiet landscape, but when you slow down and look closely, the tiny details are incredibly vibrant and captivating.

I express these experiences in precious metals and gemstones, using marine and botanical textures and forms to marry the land and sea. The results are one-of-a-kind (or limited edition) pieces, designed for every day wear, that carry the essence of this magical place🌊✨

~Tidal Water Strand Necklace 🌊~

I dream of these watery pieces, and move through my days with the subtle pull towards my beading desk. It takes a dedicated chuck of time to create one of these. They unfold much like a painting does, using gemstones and gold as my palette, adding and removing and arranging color as my intuition dictates. My aim is always to create a piece that captures what I see in the ocean water around me, which changes with the hour and depth of the water. Wearing one of these necklaces is to carry the essence of the ocean water with you, and there’s something magically soothing about this experience✨

I always underestimate how long it will take to make one of these, especially as each one is different, but it’s incredibly satisfying when I finish, and then get to witness them find their people 🙌🏻🌊 I spend countless hours collecting and sorting gemstones in advance, and then many more hours in the creation process. This includes carefully drilling out delicate gemstone beads, hand fabricating a variety of sizes of 22k gold beads, hand fabricating the clasps with 18k and 22k gold, and countless rearranging of the beads until I get it just right ✨

This particular beauty is 38” in length, and can be worn long, or doubled up (my preference), or it also works beautifully as a wrap bracelet. It consists of 10 different gemstones, including aquamarine and sapphire and emerald (among many others), and a kazillion 22k beads. If this one calls to you, please send me a DM to learn more🌊🌿

~ Fronds of Seaweed Earrings 🌊~

It was one of those days. Left for the studio in the morning, arrived in the evening. A fun, experimental project replaced the projects that I “should” have been doing, freeing up my creative energy, and challenging my engineering mind in the best of ways✨

These earrings took a while to figure out, but the results are kinetic and lightweight, and dance around like seaweed. No solder (aside from the ear wire), just forged fabrication. Handcrafted in sterling silver, and looking for a sea-lover to adorn🌊

Ooo la la! I found this gorgeous pair of hand carved moss aquamarine when I was in Tucson this past February, and I immediately knew what I would do with them. I’m fortunate to have an antique leaf stamp in my tool collection (dating back to the early 1800’s!), that I knew would work beautifully in this design. These are handcrafted in 22k and 18k gold, with fine silver back plates, and finished with four bright, petite diamonds.
