So…I’ve got to say this. Creating and then selling our work is Not easy. I try to enjoy it. Especially selling at fairs and festivals.
However. I’m becoming Way more selective on Where I’ll go.
I was an attendee (but not selling) at a festival. There was a large vendors row. Yet, the numbers were not in the vendors favor. Too few attendees to vendors. And many vendors who were selling the same things!
That’s a lack of jurying and coordination. And it’s demoralizing for creators. Those who organize and coordinate need to Listen to the needs and perspectives of the vendors.
I Won’t get started on the vultures out there…usually I’m able to sniff them out.
So, as a buyer when you ask why are there not more vendors and why is there not a better variety of vendors? Just consider that a lot of people quit even trying because there’s a bad ROI happening.
