For over four decades, the Houston Astrodome was called the Eighth Wonder of the World — the first fully enclosed, air-conditioned stadium ever built. Muhammad Ali fought here, Elvis Presley performed to record crowds, and in 1971, Evel Knievel jumped thirteen cars on a motorcycle in front of 100,000 fans. Since its last event in 2009, the dome has sat completely empty, too historic to tear down and too costly to renovate. Did you ever attend a game, concert, or rodeo inside the Astrodome? Bowie Race Course was once part of Maryland's prestigious thoroughbred racing circuit, hosting the Bowie Handicap and drawing winter crowds for over seventy years. Live racing ended in 1985, and after serving as a quiet training center for three more decades, the grounds were abandoned for good in 2015. Today the grandstands sit collapsing into overgrown weeds, a forgotten piece of Maryland sporting history. Did your family ever follow the horses at a track like this? Share your racetrack memories below. 👇

North Wilkesboro Speedway was one of NASCAR's original tracks, hosting races since 1949 in the North Carolina hills. Legends like Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, and Junior Johnson all raced on this short track before it closed in 1996. For more than two decades, nature quietly reclaimed the grandstands and banking, turning a NASCAR cathedral into a forgotten ruin. Do you remember watching races here, or at your own local short track? Share your memory below. 👇

The Palace of Auburn Hills opened in 1988 as the proud home of the Detroit Pistons, hosting the legendary "Bad Boys" championship era with Isiah Thomas and Dennis Rodman. It later became one of music's busiest venues, hosting Prince's final concerts before his passing. The arena closed in 2017 and was demolished in 2020, erasing decades of Michigan sports and music history. Do you remember watching a game or concert at the Palace? Share your memory below. 👇

The Pontiac Silverdome hosted Super Bowl XVI, Pope John Paul II's historic 1987 mass, and WrestleMania III's record-breaking crowd of 93,000 fans that same year. Home to the Detroit Lions for over two decades, the dome's air-supported roof collapsed under heavy snow in 2013, leaving the stadium to flood and decay for years before it was finally demolished. Did you ever watch a game played under that famous silver roof? Share your memory below. 👇
