I will be here for the last (For now) Spyral event fair.
Friends and followers of Spyral Events:
After months of looking inward to my own priorities, outward to the world around us, and a little bit of basic math, I have made the decision that the November 7th spirit fair will be our last of its kind for the foreseeable future. Spyral Events spirit fairs have gone through venues closing and/or changing owners, a pandemic that emotionally split the holistic and metaphysical community, uncertainty about how much disposable income our audience can put towards events like ours, and shifts in our volunteer base. On a personal level, I have been squeezed by burnout and more recently looked more closely at my core values after the loss of my dad.
Building community has always been the primary goal of Spyral Events. While making *some* money for the time and energy I put into these shows is nice, I’ve worked hard to keep booth fees low, use our platform to give back to the community, select venues that are as accessible as possible, and bring in enough attendees that make the events worthwhile for the vendors and readers who spend their time with us. While the folks at Generations have gone above and beyond in being a welcoming place for us, I feel the location has found itself to be just out of reach for both our Sheboygan and Fond du Lac audiences, as attendance numbers never quite bounced back since the move. I strongly believe that if I can’t deliver a quality product, it’s time to step back and reassess accordingly.
This isn’t necessarily “Goodbye.” I hope that it is a “See you later.” I love the vendor show world. Many of you know that I also vend individually as Glow Your Own Way. My husband and I have also been vending as Spyralfire Gifts, though that business will likely dissolve after this show. I want to put more energy in my jewelry making, as well as volunteer work that I hold dear to my heart.
I have an unquantifiable amount of gratitude for the community that has supported us these last twelve years. I’ve made so many friends along the way. We have been able to donate thousands of pounds of food and thousands of dollars to area food banks and food pantries all thanks to you. I look forward the last hurrah on November 7th. In the meantime, be kind to yourself, be kind to one another, and don’t forget to check in on your friends and neighbors as we enter the darker months of the year.
With love and gratitude,
Andrea Covey
