I recently had the honor of seeing play with the Oregon Symphony Orchestra. It was astonishingly beautiful and a balm for my weary heart. There are no words to describe how powerful it was. I think the highlight was when the band left the stage for intermission and he came back, alone, to play Master & a Hound, just he and the orchestra. Good god. I cried like a baby.

I could not justify the price of the tickets, so I posted in a fan group asking if anyone had an extra. A woman reached out to me and I asked her if she would be willing to trade jewelry for a ticket and she said yes! She requested a Moonstone ring with the words “… and we ache to come home somehow…” from the song Amsterdam. That inspired me to make this Labradorite necklace.

When I used to hear those words I thought of the home I grew up in, however full of mixed emotion memories, but now I think of coming home to myself, and maybe that’s what he meant all along.

The pendant is a beautiful multi-colored Labradorite with the most gorgeous flash. Labradorite is, of course, a stone for transition. I made the necklace with Labradorite, Chrysoprase (for grace), Apatite (for clarity), Aquamarine (for courage), and Adventurine (for trust) beads.

The pendant measures about 2” x 1 1/4” and the necklace is 18”. $160~ please message me to claim ❤️

UPDATE: ALL CLAIMED When I made the last batch of bracelets a couple months ago, many of you wanted to claim the blue and green ones, so for this batch I only made blue and green ones!

The one on the top has a faceted Labradorite charm, for transition, and features Labradorite, Rainbow Moonstone (for self-love & balance), Apatite (for clarity), Kyanite (for calm), and Aquamarine (for courage) beads.

The one in the center has a green Chrysoprase charm, for grace, and features Chrysoprase, Moss Agate (for grounding), Turquoise (for strength), Labradorite (for transition), Apatite (for clarity) and Adventurine (for luck) beads.

The one on the bottom has a Rainbow Moonstone charm, for self-love & balance) and features Rainbow Moonstone, Labradorite (for transition), Apatite (for clarity), Kyanite (for calm), and Aquamarine (for courage) beads.

Each one has a charm with a bezel-set stone with the word “breathe” on the back, a handmade silver charm with a tree on one side and my sparrow logo on the other, and wire-wrapped charms. They measure about 7” and are finished with silver lobster clasps. $46~ please message me to claim ❤️

UPDATE: CLAIMED The last time I went camping I had a very profound experience. It was a beautiful night, and I decided to sleep in the hammock. I had hung it between two big old pine trees, right by the lake. The moon was big and the stars were out and I was sleeping beautifully. In the middle of the night I woke up and I had the kind of clarity I have only had a few times in my life, a loud and clear inner voice telling me that I had been abandoning myself, that I had strayed from my path, that I needed to make changes.

That’s what my recent “holding on and letting go” necklace was about. This one is about the night that I realized what I had to let go. It’s about listening to yourself, even when it is so so very hard, and you don’t want to do what you know you must. And it’s about the peace that comes from choosing yourself, always.

The charm has trees and the moon and the stars, and a little wave in the corner to represent the lake. The bail is gold-filled. The back has a bronze heart with the word “peace”, and a feather. The 26” necklace has Tanzanite, Labradorite, and Aquamarine beads- for calm, transition, and peace. Some of the beads have tiny knots in between them.

I was at one of my little local sanctuaries yesterday, where I can go if I am seeking peace and clarity, and I happened upon this gorgeous Great Blue Heron. I was able to sit with her for quite a while. Later I remembered that I made a GBH necklace for one of my dear customers that held her father’s ashes, and I thought I would share it with you. There is a place for the ashes underneath the stone (a pale blue Sapphire, which I think was his birthstone?)

Great Blue Herons have some really beautiful symbolism that really resonates with me right now.

Because they stand perfectly still for hours waiting for the exact moment to strike, they represent patience and timing. Unlike many birds that travel in flocks, the heron is a solitary hunter. They represent standing on your own two feet, and trusting your inner wisdom. The way they wade in water (the element of emotions and intuition) symbolizes the need to look beneath the surface of your life and dive into your subconscious mind to heal old emotional patterns. (which is the very heavy work I am doing right now). Additionally, the way they stand effortlessly on one thin leg in moving water symbolizes finding your center and remaining grounded, even when life feels turbulent or unstable.

I also received a beautiful gift from the Universe in the form of a Heron feather, which I have never found before!

I’m thinking maybe it’s time to make another of these heron necklaces?

UPDATE: ALL CLAIMED A dear friend of mine used to make absolutely gorgeous borosilicate glass beads. And I was lucky enough to be able to use them in my lantern designs. If you have been here for a while, you will remember that I used to make these often; it was one of my first designs.

When I used to make my lanterns, they were always accompanied with this quote, from Dan Millman in The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, “Faith means living with uncertainty- feeling your way through life, letting your heart guide you, like a lantern in the dark.” Later I would include a tag that said simply “to help you find your way”. Right now I am back to preferring Dan Millman’s quote, because that is precisely what I am doing in my life right now, feeling my way through life with my heart guiding me.

And, I am learning the lessons associated with that, like… your heart doesn’t always know what it’s doing! It’s maybe not always the best guide. But, trusting myself, and recognizing where it may be leading me astray, and then relying on my gut and my instincts and my mind to safely lead me back to where I need to be, these are my lessons as well. And keeping faith that I’m on the right path, no matter how difficult it seems.

So I made these lantern earrings with these beautiful beads, that I have been hoarding away, and I love them so much! (I am also working on some lantern necklaces). The middle pair is an incredibly lovely lavender/purple. The pair on the right is kind of brownish/blue. And the pair on the left has shades of green. They measure just about 2 1/2” from tip to toe, and feel just lovely in your ears.

UPDATE: CLAIMED As always when the fall season comes around, I find myself reflecting on the balance of holding on and letting go. And because the extremely difficult season of my own life that I thought was coming to a close is evidently still in full swing, I’ve recently experienced a profound loss, of my own choosing, that is hurting me more than I ever thought possible.

But that is what life is all about, yeah? We are constantly evaluating what we need and what we don’t, what is serving us and what isn’t, what can stay and what has to go, and adjusting accordingly.

That’s what this piece is about- the choices we make, over and over again, the agonizing decisions we must face and hold to no matter the consequences. And ultimately that choice has to be ourselves, over and over again. No one can make these decisions for us.

This hand is gently holding a hoop with the words love, hope, heal, grieve, release… not gripping too tightly, and not letting go, a grasp that holds all of those things at once, ebbing and flowing. On her wrist is a cuff bracelet with a peace sign, symbolizing that the peace the balance of those things will bring is non-negotiable, and a daisy, representing growth through heartache.

She has a Labradorite ring, for the transition she is enduring, and a Rainbow Moonstone (for self-love & balance) and a Kyanite (for peace and calm) dangle from the hoop. There is also a dogwood flower, a symbol of rebirth.

I hand wire-wrapped the blue Topaz (for clarity & peace) beads for the chain; it is 22”. I made this piece to bring peace and healing to a soul that feels the way mine does right now. The charms are all the perfect little fidgets for sad fingers to play with when it feels too hard. $280~ please message me to claim ❤️

Years ago I worked for a company called DogIDs.com. I made sterling silver and copper dog tags for them. I loved doing this, but stopped when I started getting more consistent jewelry customers. Recently a former customer from that site reached out to me to say that I had made dog tags for her many years ago and could I make some new ones. I was delighted to do so! She sent photos of the old dogs and tags (framed after he passed away 😢).

These 3 rings feature such beautiful Rainbow Moonstones! Rainbow Moonstone is a stone of self love and balance- things we probably all need more of in our lives. The edges and the thin bands are hammered.
