We started this art installation project back in July for Tower Gallery, Sanibel at my house where we cut out the wood pieces and I painted them but wanted to wait till after the worst of hurricane season passed to install it. Rob and got the chance to install it on Sunday! Still more to do but if you are on Sanibel Island please come by and take a picture with it! I’m m working on more pieces to add and will post those as I finish them! And don’t forget to check out the gallery while you are there, 23 local artists from painters, potters, wood workers and jewelers!

Four years ago this week the coastal cities of my beloved hometown were ravaged by Hurricane Ian. My neighborhood saw an 8’ storm surge that decimated a lot of my family and friends homes not to mention the 15’ surge that hit Fort Myers Beach where I grew up as a young child and Sanibel in my 20’s. This week I wear my hurricane necklace not as a reminder of the death and devastation it brought but of the strength, resilience, determination, and love that we as a community worked through to build back. We are not done…it’s a long road ahead but I choose to remember the days after the storm and focus on the positive memories and the gift of the total strangers, friends and family that came to help our beloved Southwest Florida. Sending special love to everyone having PTSD this week.
