The Japanese & Chinese people have a long history and reputation for their fine work in the Cloisonné art. Cloisonné can simply be defined as the technique of filling small compartments of metal wires with colored enamel. These small color compartments can create an overall effect that is similar to mosaic. The wires can also be considered as a crucial part of the design, which separate different color areas. Cloisonné has a great history that runs for many centuries and it has been used to decorate precious metals as well as glasses.
The Cloisonné artists follow a separate fashion when creating these antiques. The process of creating Cloisonné includes six basic stages. These six stages are known as shaping, enameling, soldering, firing, polishing and competing. First they come up with a design and create the pattern using wires. Once the design is made using wires, it is ready to be applied with the enamels in layers. During the process, all the enamel layers should be fired with a kiln so that it can melt. Polishing can enhance the look of Cloisonné and it will lead to a completed product.
The finished Cloisonné antiques can be made into vases, rings, pendants and so on. Usually, metals like gold, silver, bronze and brass are used along with Cloisonné arts. The wide ranges of colors have the potential to create fascinating antiques. Cloisonné represents traditional art all over the world.
