We made it to Utah!

What should have been a straightforward drive turned into a bit of an adventure. After getting stuck on I-70 at Floyd Hill due to road construction and seeing Vail Pass showing closures as well, we changed plans and made our way to Salt Lake City via Steamboat Springs.

It was Olivia’s first time crossing Rabbit Ears Pass and visiting Steamboat. What a beautiful town! We both agreed we could happily live there. I hadn’t been back in nearly 10 years, and wow—it has changed so much.

From there, we continued through the northwest corner of Colorado and stopped near the Dinosaur National Monument. We were completely obsessed with all the dinosaur-themed art, sculptures, and displays throughout the area.

Now we’re settled into Salt Lake City for the night, and our Airbnb has incredible views. Tomorrow, the Utah Arts Festival set up begins 🎨✨

Salina, Kansas, you impressed me this weekend.

Just days before the 50th Annual Smoky Hill River Festival, the community was hit by a devastating storm. Trees were down, power was out, and many residents were dealing with damage and cleanup.

Despite the challenges, the festival staff and an army of volunteers worked tirelessly to prepare the park and make the event happen. What many people don’t realize is that the cleanup at the festival grounds wasn’t done by city crews pulling resources away from residents—it was accomplished by volunteers and festival staff.

I know emotions were running high after the storm, and not everyone agreed that the festival should continue. Some people event posted to boycott the festival.

The boycott didn’t really work. The community came and supported their cherished event. The festival opened free to everyone on Sunday. The crowds were incredible. The support for the artists, musicians, food vendors, volunteers, and festival staff was overwhelming.

I’ve been participating in this show for eight years, and this year was my best sales year ever. More importantly, I was reminded why I keep coming back. The people of Salina didn’t just support an event—they supported each other.

Thank you, Salina. You made me feel like I was part of your community.

Next up, Utah Arts Festival! We leave tomorrow, Olivia is coming to help me.

Today I was able to pick up my new progressive sunglasses, and for the first time in two weeks, by hair is completely dry.

Hotel Projects ✨

This batch started with light purple, lavender, and silver glass—and now I’m finishing the pieces from my hotel room.

Today’s traveling artist adventure began with a phone call from my hotel in Salina, Kansas, my next stop on this summer tour. Unfortunately, they had to cancel my reservation.

The poor people of Salina were hit by a major storm last night, with wind gusts reported at 113 mph. Power is out across much of the city, including the hotel.

So, a change of plans!

I’ve landed in Lawrence, Kansas, checked into my favorite hotel, enjoyed an amazing Greek chicken bowl, and now I’m winding down with Top Gun: Maverick while finishing up jewelry for this weekend’s show.

As of right now, the show is still happening!

Not exactly what I planned for today, but sometimes the best road-trip stories are the unexpected ones. 💜✨
