Elise Cope Jewelry

Elise Cope Jewelry Handcrafted, small-batch jewelry. Designed for the bio-curious, with conservation at heart. Friday Harbor, San Juan Island

Small batch jewelry inspired by microscopic sea things and botanical treasures. I've lived and traveled on a sailboat with my family through the Pacific Northwest & Mexico and delight in the flora & fauna where our anchor lands. Metalsmithing for 15 years, my aesthetic is heavily influenced by vintage illustrations and costume jewelry. I have been making jewelry since I was a child. At Mass Colleg

e of Art I picked up my first piece of sterling silver and started metalsmithing. I have since studied at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, and apprenticed with a descendent of the royal crown jeweler in Kathmandu, Nepal. I am especially known for my metal works inspired by old botany texts and bio-illustrations. I am currently working on launching an online shop for my jewelry.

We’re in the meandering grey lightbox of winter here in the islands, but I love this time of year… after the holiday hustle, when everything slows down, and before the tourists start flocking from the ferries. This is also one of my favorite times of year to create as an artist. So much gratitude for these islands and the abundance they provide. ✨

Featherlight pendants in the intricate shape of spore prints. Hand hammered for a wavey and organic texture. ✨

If you’re not familiar, a spore print is a powdery deposit of spores left behind when a mature mushroom cap is placed gills or pores down on a surface for 2–24 hours. Used primarily for identification, cultivation, and art, this technique reveals the unique spore color, which helps distinguish between species. 🍄✨🍄‍🟫

These earrings are inspired by Licmophora—a fan shaped sea algae found in the Salish Sea and other places around the world.

Microscopic, delicate, and architectural, Licmophora lives attached to kelp, eelgrass, and rocks in cold coastal waters, quietly doing the work of photosynthesis that supports the entire marine food web.

I love translating these unseen forms into something you can hold and wear.

Made to order. Hand-cut and textured, each pair is slightly different, like the algae themselves. Sterling silver handmade ear wires. Featherlight aluminum pendant—hand-cut, etched, and texture .

Oysters filter water, create habitat, and their layered shells tell the story of time and tide. The featherlight aluminum pendants on these earrings are about.75 inches, with handmade sterling silver ear wires. Hand illustrated, cut and hammered for shape.
