We neglected to mention that on Oct. 23, Ursula's Silver, a 4-year-old daughter of Silver Music, had her best lifetime finish of second place in a maiden-claiming race at Finger Lakes. Perhaps she can add one more winner to her late sire's record before that northern New York meeting ends in a couple of weeks.

Castle Village Farm has made the decision to retire Silver Music's boy Talking Blues from the racetrack. The gelding broke his maiden on New Year's Day this year at Aqueduct, but had not made it back to the winner's circle since. He's an athletic, great-looking horse, and gray, to boot. What's not to like?

Gorgeous gray four-year-old thoroughbred gelding. Finished race track career (won at Aqueduct) sound. Sweet-tempered, easily trainable.

Musical Melody, a 6-year-old daughter of Silver Music, is set to start again Thursday. She is the 2/1 favorite in Race 2 at Finger Lakes, a $4,000 claiming race. After nearly two years away from the track, Musical Melody returned this summer to collect her third lifetime win in a race at Finger Lakes in August, and has been second in each of her last two starts. J.M. Rohena has the mount for trainer E.J. Babcock.

After some time off, Castle Village Farm's Talking Blues, a New Year's Day maiden-breaker, returns to the races Saturday in a $10,000 claimer at Belmont Park. Talking Blues will be ridden by Eibar Coa and was installed at 12/1 on the morning line in the field of 10. Good luck, Talking Blues and Castle Village Farm!

Doing her late daddy proud, Musical Melody capped an improbable comeback with a win Saturday at Finger Lakes in a $4,000 claimer. The filly won twice early in her career, but was sidelined for nearly two years. She returned to post a few dull efforts at short distances before placing second recently -- and now winning -- going a mile-seventy. She now has three wins from 17 starts, for $60,710.

The comeback of Musical Melody, a Silver Music daughter off the track for nearly two years, gets a little more promising with each race. On Saturday at Finger Lakes, she came within 1 3/4 lengths of winning, finishing second behind odds-on favorite Little Nikki in a race at a mile and 70 yards, despite being hung out five-wide on both turns. Silver's foals have often done well at a distance.

Musicofmeadowlake on Thursday scored his second straight runner-up finish at the maiden special weight level at Finger Lakes, this time by disqualification. Place-finisher Jerico Rules forced Musicofmeadowlake out of his path in the stretch and was taken down; Musicofmeadowlake still was only beaten 3 3/4 lengths by Roar Tiger Roar. He has now earned $9,688 from six lifetime starts.

Silver's last foal, at 21 days. He has chewed his mama's tail even further up than that, now. Still unnamed, but we have some ideas.

Very nice drill on Sunday for Castle Village Farm's Talking Blues, who posted a bullet :36.09 over Belmont's training track, best of nine on the day.

Also, Musical Melody is entered for Tuesday at Finger Lakes, a $4,000 claimer, Race 4 on the card. Good luck to both the mare and her connections.

Been remiss in reporting runners of late, but three Silver Music offspring have raced recently at Finger Lakes. Musical Melody and Ursula's Silver were unplaced. But 3-year-old c**t Musicofmeadowlake finished second in a maiden special at nearly 24/1 on Independence Day, earning $3,520 and boosting his career total to $5,368 from five starts.

Musical Melody, a 6-year-old daughter of Silver Music, has been installed at 10/1 on the morning line for Race 2 on Thursday at Finger Lakes. She will break from Post 10 under jockey Clive Beech, for trainer E.J. Babcock. The race is a 4 1/2-furlong test for $4,000 claimers who have not won a race in the last 12 months.
