Not one person or agency can solve homelessness but working together we can make a difference. Way to go in your new housing and best of luck and special moments and memories coming your way. π π‘
Last week at St. Johnβs Ministries was an incredible example of what can happen when community organizations work together.
Two guests staying in our Stability Shelter for Women signed leases and received the keys to their new homes...on the same day! While that alone is worth celebrating, what made the day especially meaningful was the collaboration between community providers to help make these smooth transitions possible.
In one instance, Oneida Nation worked alongside a guest to help her secure housing. Tollef, the Program Coordinator for Lasting Change, joined the (former) guest and Oneida Nation staff at her storage unit to help move her belongings into her new home.
In another situation, Tollef and Sarah, a Case Manager at St. Johnβs Ministries, met with staff from House of Hope Green Bay, including a new Case Manager, to coordinate furniture and household essentials for a (former) guest starting over after experiencing domestic violence. Sitting around the table, sharing resources, and identifying what each organization could contribute ensured she had what she needed to move into her new home that same day.
Both individuals are now participating in Lasting Change; an aftercare program started by St. Johnβs Ministries in April 2025 to promote housing stability and support men and women as they transition into spaces of their own.
The collaboration continued when Sarah connected with the Jackie Nitschke Center on behalf of a guest waiting for sober living. During their conversation, a Recovery Housing Coordinator with Jackie Nitschke Center shared his idea to visit regularly with sober living applications and answer guestsβ questions about programs offered at the Jackie Nitschke Center. We were thrilled with the idea and welcomed the opportunity to explore this partnership further.
We also see the value of continued collaboration with N.E.W. Community Clinic, who come to our Micah Center and Wellspring facilities last week to provide guests with mental health services, dental, and medical care. Having regular access to these services on-site helps reduce barriers to care and connects guests with essential support in a familiar, accessible setting.
We are incredibly encouraged by the collaborative spirit weβre seeing across our community. Each organization brings their own resources and set of expertise, but we share a commitment to making sure people have the support they need to move forward.
No one organization can do it alone. When we work together, we can address more barriers, create stronger connections, and help our guests take meaningful steps toward stability.
