Vis a Vis Jewelry

Vis a Vis Jewelry I'm Vie. I hand make all of my designs, fire them and color some of them in my home studio. Hand crafted artisan jewelry all made from home.

I use the bronze medium to hand craft the pendants and charms and 14k gold filled chain and ear wire. Gold filled does not peal off or rub off like plated. I use the techniques of PMC and classic metal smithing. I make my own molds from my own sculptures, ancient coins, cameos or unusual objects. I also carve my own stamps. I do not do casting so each metal piece is individually made. I love themes from the old world so a lot of my creations look like they are right out of an archeological site.

Working on a new project. I love the facts that animals are printed on the ancient coins, so went looking for some. Here is the Sicilian hound. Carved on the reverse of an ancient Roman coin from 415BC. Carved it from the picture. Still need to fire it. Can’t wait for the finished product. Will keep you all posted.

I made a mold from an ancient Roman coin of the founders of Rome Remus and Romulus. The legend has it that the twin brothers were raised by a she-wolf. They founded Rome in 753BC.
I cast the bronze coin in a kiln. The original coin had faint relief but the result is still good.
