Disassembling Time - By Victoria Blades

Disassembling Time - By Victoria Blades My name is Victoria Blades. I make and sell steampunk jewelry on Etsy.com. Come check out my shop! I studied Printmaking as a concentration.

My background:

I graduated from Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts. After 5 years of hard work, I acquired knowledge in a wide range of print techniques: silkscreen, woodcut, linocut, reduction printing, intaglio, lithography, digital printing, and letterpress as well as paper making and creating handmade books. After college, I was fortunate enough

to purchase screen printing equipment. Mainly using the photo-emulsion technique, I was able to gain the most detail out of my prints. In 2007, I was experimenting with printing t-shirts and prints on paper. This was a labor of love and it was fun collaborating with local bands and friends to make shirts. This still continues today, but not as often. That's a whole other story! Studying how to make handmade prints, my graphic design (ex. Photoshop) was limited. It was mainly used for setting up my images to be laser printed onto transparency film. (This is part of the process for using the photo-emulsion technique.) So, I took it upon myself to learn the Adobe Suite on my own. Using Photoshop among other programs, I am able to produce artwork for online projects, CD case artwork, and using it as a tool to come up with ideas for painting. Yes, I paint as well. :p

Disassembling Time is one of my many projects that I started in March of 2012. I fell in love with taking apart watches and turning them into unique pieces of jewelry. Steampunk was my main inspiration, as you can see in my work. My items are not only for women, but men as well. I am still learning new techniques all the time and taking free courses to get the most out of my Etsy shop. If you are interested in my work, I would like to throw it out there that I do custom orders. If you have any ideas, please feel free and contact me on my Etsy page: www.etsy.com/shop/DisassemblingTime

Thanks for reading and keep the arts alive! :)

I recently found a fantastic website called Starfish Project. This organization cares for women who escaped human trafficking in Asia. These women are trained to make gorgeous jewelry and all proceeds go towards the individual.. to provide health care, shelter, counseling, as well as child education grants for women and children.

Check out the link and help a woman in need! You can also become and advocate, which I am planning on doing in the near future. Not only is a really important cause, but it inspired me in my own artwork. Thanks for reading!

P.S. Two paintings done... and more to come! Will keep updating for the gallery show.

Starfish Project is a non-profit organization with a social enterprise that cares for women coming out of human trafficking and exploitation. Starfish Project has employed over 100 women and has served thousands through our Community Outreach Services.

Hello everyone! I wanted to share some pictures of a steampunk style garter that I had made for my sister for her wedding. These were taken quickly, so excuse the background and some blur.

I may start making these and adding them to my shop. What do you think? :)

Very cool! Though the inch worm ride looks kinda boring haha.

Update! I've been exploring the world of floating pendants. I don't want to go too much with the normal charms that usually go in these, so I'm going to be experimenting to make them more my style. If you don't know what a floating pendant is, here are some pictures that I grabbed from what I recently purchased.

Two of the images are the "mustache" pendant and the other image is a few antique tool charms (stamped) plus some of the regular charms, and one pendant that I put a watch face into.. just playing around. :) I have bracelet ones, round necklaces in different colors, heart shaped ones, and more!
