CureFest 2026 has come to a close.
The first picture represents 41 panels of angel warriors… 41 panels of broken hearts, broken families, and a resounding scream of why 😔😡
My gorgeous girl. Third row down, fourth from the right, green shirt.
CureFest's mission is to make childhood cancer research a national priority by uniting the childhood cancer community, the general public, the medical field, and elected representatives with one voice.
The widely cited "4% statistic" represents the share of the federal government’s annual National Cancer Institute (NCI) budget dedicated specifically to researching ALL childhood cancers combined. Roughly 4% of the NCI budget goes to pediatric oncology.
Imagine the visual : 100 pennies… and push aside FOUR. That is what our diagnosed children are worth?!
Out of a multi-billion dollar federal budget, this equals roughly $250 million annually for kids.
The Remaining 96%: The vast majority of federal cancer funds target adult-onset or general cancers. This movement has been around for decades. DECADES!!! 😭🎗️🎗️💔💔💪🏼
4% is not enough, and here is proof of this tragedy.
It should be perfectly clear now why I flood my socials with fundraising events in honor of the fight my Jordyn horrifically had to endure. The frontline chemo regimen that she was offered for Ewing sarcoma was over 40 years old! There was nothing newer and nothing better than this antiquated protocol. The older I get, and the more I learn, the more viscerally offensive this fact is. Thank you for listening, thank you for always supporting, and thank you for being in this fight with me.
