I would love to CELEBRATE my long time model for Sunrise Shells by MonicaByTheShore, Mahina Florence! Mahina has been chosen as Playboy's Playmate of the Year 2026! She is the first Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) wahine (woman) to ever grace the magazine. I first photographed her 15 years ago on the North Shore of Oahu where we both lived. She was so natural. I brought a collection of jewelry to the photo shoot, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings.... and I didn't need to direct her on what to wear, she chose and displayed my jewelry in the most beautifully natural way. I've never thought of replacing her as the cover model of my jewelry because she is just so perfect and now the rest of the World will see what I saw back then. I made this jumbo sized Sunrise Shell and Puka Shell necklace for my best friend on the North Shore for years, Tricia. She's living in Oregon now with a great man, Jimmy, in the wild wilderness of the Oregon mountains. I took this quick cell phone shot just to send to her but I packaged it up in gift wrap and mailing box and forgot to take a "nice" photo of it. Custom for "Philip", my Canadian client, this signature piece is called " Shell Pile ". The bracelet will compliment the Shell Pile lei necklace that I made for him a few months ago when he visited Oahu. The striking Sunrise Shell centerpiece with green, yellow and pink coloration is mixed with a variety of Seashells that I collected on Ke Iki Beach on the North Shore, Haleiwa, Oahu, Hawaii. The bracelet is strung on silver nylon coated Flexwire (I do not use elastic!) and is finished with sterling silver findings and a toggle clasp.
