So I’m working on an estimate for a commission piece and needed to show the difference between our double-wrapped and single-wrapped links and I thought “Oh, maybe other people would be interested in knowing the difference.” So here we are.
Single wrapped links are pretty standard. I think they are the most common kind of links out there. They are the base for a lot of things including necklaces and earrings. To me, single links look more delicate. They put more emphasis on the stones, and the metal becomes more of an accent.
Whereas, double wrapped links stand out more and the metal becomes just as important as the stones. I like to use double wraps for statement pieces and situations where you want your jewelry to be the first thing that’s seen.
I personally love both wraps and I don’t typically know which I’ll pick until the first link is made.
Which do you prefer singles or doubles?
