A few selected photos from the South Shore in Kauai. We stayed in Poipu Beach which has more “swimmable” beaches. The winds were especially strong the week we were there so the surf and waves were ripping. We found a nice stretch where we were able to swim in. Pacific waters are colder than what us Florida folks are used to but once you get in, you acclimate fine. Plus I didn’t fly 14 hours to not get in the waters, you feel me? Jay was able to snorkel right off some of the beach waters and saw some amazing fish and sea life.
Pole bowls and açaí bowls are a thing in Hawaii. I had both numerous times but if you know me you know I love my tuna. I had so much poke I’m surprised I didn’t grow fins. It was so fresh anywhere you had it- even the supermarkets! Which if you plan on going, always hit the supermarkets for poke. We went to 2 and it was extremely tasty and fresh!
There are amazing trails and hikes. We didn’t go crazy hiking just kept it relatively easy. There is a nice easy trail in Shipwreck Beach that takes you along the rugged coast with those amazing cliff views. We did that one morning and it was pretty amazing. There is definitely more sun in the south so if you want to secure sun and surf time, stay in the south. We stayed at Koloa Landing and it was spectacular! The grounds were to die for and I kept walking around telling Jay “this is what our backyard needs to look like!” Clearly, he just laughed me off. A girl can dream! Tomorrow I’ll share more of the north shore- dramatic and divine!
