Murrell's Clock Shop Murrell's Clock Shop is a local family operated and owned repair and sales shop. Our clock shop is open on Thursday and Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M.

We have clocks and collectables for sale including Cambridge Glass, Advertising signs,both procelain and tin and etc. We deal primarly in antique and collectable clocks and do not have new clocks at this time. We also do repairs on clocks, which includes service calls to peoples homes to work on Grandfather Clocks. We encourage customers to bring clocks other than Grandfathers to the shop as we do have a service charge when we have to travel to peoples homes to do our work. We have been doing repairs on clocks for 8 years. We are a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and a member of the Watchmakers-Clockmakers Association of Ohio. I have had training from both organizations in clock and pocket watch repair. I am also an authorized repairman for Howard Miller/Ridgeway clocks. My wife and I do all the work in our shop and on the road. Our daughter does help with the shop when we have to be on the road on a day that the shop is to be open. We try to plan our repairs on customers clocks in their homes on Mondays and Wednesdays and occasionally on Tuesdays. We perfer to do repairs in the shop on Thursdays and Fridays and not be on the road if possible. Give us a call at 740-439-1371 if you need any repairs done or if you need information.

We are back to regular hours in our shop. For those of you who don't know, my husband had surgery on his neck and is currently in a hard neck brace and will be for several weeks. If you have clocks you want worked on please feel free to bring them to us during our regular shop hours. He will start working on them as soon as his recovery allows him to. Just know you won't get the clocks back in a week or two.. Those who have grandfather clocks you can call and leave a message about your clock. We will place you on a list so when he can start working on grandfathers we can then call you and make an appointment to come and look at your clock. Our clock will be closed on June 6th & 7th, We will be back to our regular hours the following week. If you are planning to bring in a clock for repair know that it might take a little longer then usual for repair. My husband is haveing surgery and the speed of clock repair depends on his recovery. If you need grandfather clock repair we will put you on a list and will contact you once he is able to go out for repairs on these clocks. Thank you for your patience.

Mechanical Grandfather Clock Repair and Restoration

This process includes:
Step one- We pick up the clock at your residence: This includes the cost of a house call which is $100.00 within 40 miles of my shop. Additional cost will be involved for greater distances.

Step two- Cleaning and lubrication: First we remove all the levers and gears from the front and back of your movement then we deep clean your clock movement with L&R Clock Cleaning Solution in a 6 step process. This guarantees that your movement is free of all dirt and debris.
In the finish process we emerge your movement in a water free Naptha Solution. After this we clean the movement and parts with compressed air to make sure all the water is removed.
Now that it is clean we inspect your movement to decide what work needs to be done and we will run it on a test stand. If the movement is in such bad shape that a repair would be less effective and cost more than the purchase of a new movement we would share those choices with you. This is where you need to make a decision. We can stop at this time, oil it and bring it back to you. The movement will have had the best possible cleaning and oiling for only $150.00, but there is no guarantee that a cleaning and oiling is all that the movement needs. However if a cleaning and oiling is all that a customer wants than that is what we will do.

Step three-New or restoration: With approval we will inspect the movement with magnification for evidence of wear. This usually includes things like bushings for worn pivots. At this point we will give the customer a general assessment and a reasonable quote for the work that needs to be done, but this can change as the movement has yet to be torn down. If we have the customer’s approval we will start the tear down and repair process. Should we discover more damage once it is torn down we will contact the customer with an additional quote for the extra work or if necessary possible replacement with a new movement.

We would appreciate the $100.00 to be paid when we pick up your movement and the additional cost to be paid when we bring your movement back. We are a small business so we only accept checks or cash. We do not accept credit cards and we don’t extend credit. We are strictly cash and carry. We will however wait to bring your movement back if you are short of funds until you raise the money to pay us for the work we have done.
