Each year Forai walks alongside 8-12 refugee and immigrant women on the artisan/artisan-admin team and 20-30 women who take part in community sewing classes. Forai works to foster dignity and help these women’s stories be heard. We help empower them economically with income earned from their work. And Forai creates community, a space where women from different backgrounds and cultures are mutually giving and receiving. Mission Statement: Forai, Inc., is a faith-based, Christian 501(c)3 organization partnering with local refugee and immigrant women to enable the realization of economic, educational, and social goals through training and peer support, and by expanding market opportunities for artisans.

Seeking Weekend (primarily Saturday) Sales Associate

Duties:

Run sales in the storefront by engaging customers, helping them with purchases, ringing up sales, and keeping merchandise organized.

Work with Retail Sales Manager to curate the storefront experience.

Be willing and able to pick up additional shifts when needed.

Staff pop up markets as needed which may include the following duties:

Set up and/or take down tent, table, displays, merchandise and all items in booth.

Run sales event by engaging customers, helping them with purchases, ringing up sales, and keeping merchandise organized during sale.

Occasionally supervise and/or train volunteers to set up/take down/ run sales event.

Pick up and/or deliver all items to Forai staff ensuring cleanliness and safety of all items as well as technology and cash box.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent customer service skills.

Sales experience; merchandising experience preferred.

Strong attention to detail and ability to organize efficiently.

Ability to multitask.

Personable demeanor.

Team player; desire to go above and beyond.

Bonus: Marketing experience and/or expertise.

Part-Time: Primarily Saturdays and some weekday hours. 7-15 hours/week

Compensation: $16/hr plus merchandise discount.

We started Forai 17 years ago with a very simple mission: to befriend and empower vulnerable refugee and immigrant women.

While our mission is to cultivate deep and lasting relationships with each woman who enters out doors, we also want to be ready to open our arms to our newest neighbors. Although the refugee resettlement program is paused for now, the need for community, practicing English, and coming to feel "at home" continue for resettled refugee women.

That’s why today I’m inviting you to join the Circle the Hope, our community of monthly givers! Just like a sewing circle, monthly givers come together to empower women with all the tools, materials, and training they need to begin earning a fair wage as Forai artisans.

This is a community making a difference right now - people like you who have committed to give what they can, each and every month, so Forai can continue to welcome new women into the workshop.

Will you empower refugee women with a monthly donation of $15, $30, or $50?
It costs around $15 to purchase a new jewelry hammer. It costs $1,500 to fully onboard and equip one new artisan. A monthly gift of any amount makes a big difference.

You can give hope to those who need it most, when they need it most.
