Most pre-1965 dimes are worth about $5 or $6 in silver today.

That's already more than face value — good to know on its own.

But here's the part most people miss.

Hidden in an ordinary pile of old dimes could be a 1916 D Mercury Dime. In any condition, that coin can be worth $1,000 or more. In the right condition — $10,000.

To someone who doesn't know what they're looking for, it looks like every other dime in the pile. To someone who does, it's a completely different story.

If you have old coins — especially a collection of pre-1965 dimes — don't do anything with them until you get them looked at.

Most people don't realize their old silverware is actually made of real, valuable silver.
