Just listed ✨An 18K Art Deco cocktail ring set with nearly two-dozen diamonds and sapphires. The outline of the ring is curvaceous and commanding, stretching over 1” top to bottom along the finger. Three Old European Cut diamonds (.60 CTW) align in a stack at the center of the ring, handsomely set in octagonal heads. Two blue sapphire baguettes extend east-west from this trio with sixteen further diamonds tucked in nooks and crannies across the ring. Lacy filigree details and graceful engravings abound and somehow there is still room for twenty-one gemstones! The intricate and luxurious design of the ring is visible from every angle. A dazzling time capsule from the Roaring Twenties!

Just listed ✨A handsome two-tone 1940s diamond solitaire ring set with a lively .70 carat Old European Cut diamond. The diamond is set in a 14K white gold square head with neat and tidy photo-corner prongs. The diamond sparkles like mad with a sunburst pattern of old-world facets breaking light into a spectrum of colors. The SI2 clarity grade is due to the position of a feather near the center of the stone, but this characteristic is not visible with the naked eye nor does it affect brightness. The shoulders have volute details and an upswept, regal appearance. Close inspection reveals a shift in metal tone between the shoulders and lower shank, leading me to believe that the ring was re-shanked at some point - probably to repair a thinning band. The repair is very well done and this ring is ready for another 80 years of life and love!

Measurements: Size 7 1/4 US, 2.1 grams total weight
Diamond details: (1) .70 carat Old European Cut diamond, SI2/J (5.55-5.60/3.55mm)
Era: 1930s-1940s

Well, HELLO! Is it just me or do May and June feel squished together this year, like a file that is too big to send without compressing? I don’t know what this double-decker month should be called (any ideas?) but I do know that it lasts sixty-one days and that we are on day forty-seven right now....

Just listed 🫯 An early 1920s hinged bangle set with a constellation of antique cut diamonds across lace-like 14K openwork. The body of the bracelet is yellow gold, with the telltale “window-pane” design on the lower band that helps us to date the piece. While the lower band is mostly uniform in width, the top portion of the bracelet flares to accommodate the diamond-set openwork. Over three-dozen antique cut diamonds are pavé set in curving, curling and looping metalwork that feels decidedly Edwardian. Two tapered baguettes burst from the center of the design like shooting stars, drawing the eye out and down the shoulders of the bracelet. All stones original. Tab clasp and safety catch.

I can spot this link style in the messiest, most topsy-turvy booth displays. And I bet you can, too! It is quite unusual, eh? I have only seen it twice in real life. The top bracelet I found/sold in 2010 and the bottom bracelet I found last month and just listed in the shop. I saw that link peeking out from under a pile of silver chains in a case at the antique store and I knew exactly what it was. Soooooo, I might not be able to remember what I did last weekend or why I opened the pantry (what was I looking for?) but I can remember a bracelet I sold sixteen years ago AND which jewelry book it is referenced in (Roseann Ettinger’s “Popular Jewelry: 1840-1940”). 🧠 🤔

Oh la la!! An ethereal diamond briolette necklace on a handmade platinum chain. The twenty-nine teardrop briolette diamonds tremble like dewdrops, top drilled for maximum movement and sparkle. The briolette is one of the oldest diamond cuts with facets all the way around the stone creating a beautiful dispersion of light. This collection of teeny (2.5 x 3.0 mm) diamonds are a mix of antique (ca. 1900s) and modern cuts and each one is different from the next. Plump and plucky! The fancy-link platinum chain is handmade.

Swipe to see this one against the light! This is a stunning Lightning Ridge black opal ring with an old mine cut diamond halo. ⚡️ Black opals are much rarer than white opals and their color play is robust. Flashing patches of color are more distinct when they appear out of a dark background, as they do in black opals like this one. The oval cabochon opal (approx. 1.65 cts) shows an impressive play of light with large swaths of green and blue pulsing across the stone. A closer look at different angles reveals rich violet, peach, pink and orange tones. The opal is framed by a dozen old mine cut diamonds, approx. 1.44 ctw, neatly set and twinkling with warmth.

💖 An oversized 18K heart locket with hallmarks for London in the year 1913. 1913!! The locket face features a sizable (nearly .50 carat) old mine cut diamond in a starburst recess, with engraved flourishes framing and the initials “FK” or possibly “KF.” The engraving is masterful as is the diamond setting. The verso is plain save the hallmarks. The locket has flat edges and a uniform width of 5mm. Closes with a secure “snap,” excellent condition. A gorgeous example of an early 20th century high-karat locket.
