Little Flame Tribal Fabric Jewelry African Tribal Inspired Handmade Jewelry using only Imported South African Shweshwe Fabric. So loosely translated means “Little Flame”.

Little Flame(English Translation) For Vlammetjie
“Vlamm-e-tjie” Pronounced: “Flahhm-eh-key” in South African, Afrikaans. Vlamme meaning Flame, then the last syllable tjie (pronounced “key”)
in Afrikaans, is an endearing term, added at the end meaning small or tiny. I named my Jewelry Line this because I put a little bit of myself in every piece of One of a Kind Jewelry that I design and

create. I started this line because I was inspired by my 6 years of living in South Africa and influenced by the colourful and quite beautiful adornments that many of the different tribes of the country wear. South Africa is known as the “Rainbow Nation”. It has many African Tribes, Cultures and 11 Official Languages. In my experience living there I was exposed to the Xhosa and Sotho and Zulu Cultures along the Eastern Cape where I lived. And saw the many uses of this wonderful Cotton fabric called Shweshwe. It was used in everything from everyday Dresses, Scarfs, Table Linen, to Bridal Ensembles and Traditional Tribal Clothing. Most people have seen African Fabric with large dynamic prints, these are also beautiful but more representative of Central Africa and Nigeria. I use only Original Shweshwe because I fell in love with the endless variations of small repeating geometric designs and vibrant colors combinations. And because of that, you can be sure that when crafting my designs, I choose to use only this wonderful Fabric, an Authentic product of South Africa. I know you’ll love it too.
