I wish I knew about babywearing with my older children, but unfortunately, it was with my third and most likely last child that I discovered this joy. Along with my love for wearing my youngest has come a love for wearing something pretty around my neck that she can fiddle with. One day I got an idea to learn the craft of making these hammered silver pieces and Handcrafted Wonderment Jewelry was b

orn. My pieces are made of argentium silver purchased from a reputable American company. Each link is fused using no chemicals, hammered and textured to my satisfaction and then tumbled and polished. As with any handcrafted item, no two pieces can be exactly alike and each have their own characteristic beauty marks. All pieces are made in the USA and safe for babies to touch and tug. Even though these silver pieces are safe for babies, they are made for mamas to wear and should only be played with under adult supervision. If it wouldn't have been for wanting Mama Metal which was scarce in 2015, I never would have picked up a torch and started making my own.

When you work with silver wire, there are so many possibilities. Basic shapes are fairly quick to make. I use a tool called wrap and tap pliers to make circles in various sizes. Many other shapes start out as circles before I use flat-nose pliers to flatten sides and make corners or angles. Adding some shaped dangles adds a bit of fiddling fun and gives the piece some jingle.

The fun for me is when I get to create pieces like this gnome. There's some real handcrafting involved in bending the wire to create more complex designs. I use various pliers to help make certain bends and angles. There's also many more points of fusing as various lengths of wire join together.

The double convertible chain is an option I haven't highlighted in some time. Whether you're new to WJ and Mama Metal or have been growing your collection, the dc chain really elevates to another level.

There are several ways to wear this chain - full length, one side doubled or both sides doubled. I tend to prefer to wear mine with one side doubled so the charm built into the chain is visible and part of my overall look.

This set is part of my personal collection - an infinity dc chain and heart centerpiece. The look is easily reproducible with in stock and custom pieces.
