Gem Source - Lexington, KY We are a full-service independent jewelry store founded in 1989 with a focus on high-quality genuine gems and custom-made jewelry.

Gem Source was founded in 1989 by Jim Salyer in Lexington, KY with an emphasis on high quality, genuine and colored gems - including sapphires, emeralds, diamonds, and more - in addition to finely crafted custom jewelry. Jim, a registered GIA gemologist, recognized the tradition of celebrating key moments in people’s lives with gifts of fine jewelry and future heirloom pieces, and felt the process

should be held to higher standards than the typical ‘price point’ merchandising and marketing often used by big box jewelry outlets. Gem Source is still a family operated single store operation, owned by Jim & Gerry Salyer and their two sons, Ian and Lucas. Gem Source moved to its current location at 368 Southland Drive in Lexington in 2001. As members of the prestigious organizations listed below, Gem Source is committed to an international network of jewelry professionals who adhere to the strictest standards of quality and ethical trade practices.
