Becca's Broadway Boutique Here is a little slice of my crafting world. I make ornaments, shirts, decals, and more inspired by Broadway. However, I'm not limited to Broadway!

I welcome and encourage custom requests! I've always been super into the world of arts and crafts, and that love has only grown since I began working at Michaels Arts and Crafts store. Working at an Arts and Crafts store affords me a lot of time meeting people who have the same interests and passions as me. Since working at Michaels I have picked up the eye for floral arrangements (though I have y

et to try my hand at one), I have expanded on my crochet skills, I've learned how to knit, and I have begun teaching Jewelry classes at Michaels. Jewelry was probably my first great love in the world of Michaels, back when I was eight or nine, and it is something that I'm so thrilled I finally have the chance to return to. In my little creativity shop I hope to have my handmade pieces available, including pieces made from clay. They may be simple pieces like flowers, or on the geeky side like Totoro or Doctor Who. I like to crochet geeky things, and there will never be enough time in the day for what I love to make. I especially enjoy making characters from Studio Ghibli films. I also sell custom made decals, glasses, shirts, you name it.

Me reacting to the theater wing forgetting that Nicole Scherzinger supports a man who has been attacking the theater industry since January 20th, who goes after LGBTQ+ folkx, who has been tearing families apart, and currently has sent in the National Guard to "put down an insurrection" because of Americans trying to defend and protect immigrants, but sure Nicole...love always wins or something. 🙄🙄

The Tonys are TOMORROW!
How are we feeling folkx?
Out of the nominees this year I'm mostly just invested in Gypsy because it is the only thing I have seen and also, I'm trash for Audra McDonald and I will be until the day I die. I was very lucky to see her (FINALLY) in this show earlier this year. I actually was there the same night as Kamala Harris! I had seen Audra in concert many years ago and had been anxious to see her in a stage musical. When they finally announced this Gypsy revival, I was not initially jazzed because I had seen the pro-shot of Gypsy with Imelda Staunton and thought the music was good, but it just was not a show for me. Regardless though, it had Audra, and I was not missing a chance to see her in a musical.
I'm SO glad I was wrong about my initial concerns. The thing with Gypsy and Mama Rose is that she's really not a good person. She's misguided and focused on the wrong thing and like many stage mothers of the olden days (and let's be real some of them are still around today) she pushed her children either away from her or so far, she was willing to do anything to get them on the stage, even if it meant making them strip. She's not a sympathetic character. That is until Audra played her. Audra as Mama Rose was the first time I actually felt empathy for her. She showed her as this multifaceted woman who could do bad things but also really made you think she DID actually love her kids. I think a huge part of this is because this was the first time Black women have played all three major female roles in this show on Broadway. A Black mother fighting for the best for her children against the backdrop of America in the early part of the 20th century hits differently. There is MANY layers of nuance with Rose being Black and Herbie being white and Baby June being white passing and for Rose to be pushing June to be the star over Louise is deeper now than just June has more talent than Louise.
Ultimately, I know Audra has had her roses many times over and if she does not win the Tony tomorrow, she will probably sleep just fine with all of the other awards she does have. However, I do truly think she deserves it for this role.
I actually won't be home tomorrow night to watch the Tonys, so I am going to have to check out what happened afterward.

P.S. I cannot wait to see the Hamil10 reunion! Can you believe it has been ten years since Hamilton?!

We had so much fun at the Pride Market hosted by The Market at Pettaway this past weekend. It was our best market appearance yet and I'm SO grateful to everyone who stopped by and purchased something. My shop is often how I afford the extra incidentals in life and can treat myself from time to time so I truly mean it when I say supporting my small business regularly improves my day to day life.

I am so excited to share I am going back to Pettaway this weekend for their Pride Market!
I've missed the vibes of Pettaway, and I knew I didn't want to miss the Pride Market! I am hoping now that Pettaway is back to being on Sundays as well that I can start regularly coming to the market again!

Our Story

I've always been super into the world of arts and crafts, and that love has only grown since I worked for Michaels from 2013-2017.

In the spring of 2017 my mother bought me a Cricut cutting machine. I started making decals and shirts, and then slowly expanded into making cups.

My work went from being inspired by geekdom to Broadway musicals. I love to make things inspired by the shows I love, but I’m always open to making things inspired by the shows other fans love. I have been very privileged to travel to New York frequently and see Broadway musicals, so I’ve seen first hand how expensive merchandise can be. Not only is Broadway merchandise expensive, it is often hard to obtain, and sometimes downright plain. My hope is to make something for fans to be truly proud of, and to be accessible to all people.
