My Dad passed away yesterday after a year and a half long battle with Glioblastoma, an incurable aggressive brain cancer. While this is deeply personal, something I stay away from on IG, my Dad loved this company. He was a hands on person, and while he was always supportive of my educational career, watchmaking/machining/ old equipment was something he loved too and could really get behind. The first picture is my Dad and I at the range together for the last time. The second picture is him setting up the air at our current workshop. He owned the family sandblasting business and ran it for his entire adult life. Sandblasting is all about air pressure and he was an expert. Rest in Peace and Baruch Dayan Haemes Dad. Thanks for everything you taught me and gave me.

At first glance this may look like a familiar Resurgence, but this piece is actually a one-of-a-kind example of what our talented team here in California can create when a client’s passion drives the design (no pun intended).

For this commission our client wanted to combine two of his great loves: horology and F4 racing. To accomplish this our in-house master engraver hand-carved a photo of a dynamic race scene directly into the center case, capturing the energy of the track in miniature form.

For most watches this would not be possible, but the unique construction of our Resurgence case allows not only midcase guilloché, but also intricate midcase engraving. The Resurgence is truly your canvas!

At first glance this may look like a familiar Resurgence, but this piece is actually a one-of-a-kind example of what our talented team here in California can create when a client’s passion drives the design (no pun intended).

We are proud to present our first Resurgence in rose gold with Roman numerals. The dial is zirconium, naturally heat-treated to turn the originally grayish-white metal into a rich black. Blackened zirconium has become a signature look for us here at JN Shapiro as it shows off our hand-guilloched dials beautifully.

Heat-treating metals to change their color, seen most often as blued steel, has been used in watchmaking almost since its inception, but it remains a delicate and refined art. The final effect is classic, elegant, and refined.

Created entirely in the USA, from raw material to final regulation, Resurgence marks the return of American watchmaking, the first of its kind in generations.

The stepped guilloche dial, created by hand on a rose-engine machine from the 1900's, served as a connection to the past as a devotion to craft.

The innovative use of materials, including blackened zirconium and tantalum, look to the future of what modern watchmaking can be. Resurgence is a step in a new direction.

Here is the Sliding Pinion, one of the most difficult parts in a watch to manufacture, and yet it’s one that no one talks about. It feels good manufacturing a part that hasn’t been in mass production in this country in sixty years. It’s just one of the many difficult parts that go unseen in the Resurgence.
