I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who supported me throughout this experience. Entering this competition was outside of my comfort zone because I’m much more used to juried exhibitions, where finalists and winners are chosen by a panel. Public voting was a completely new experience for me.

When I realized votes could also be purchased, I had my hesitations — though I absolutely respect it, especially since it supports charity. Personally, I wanted this journey to feel organic and rooted in genuine support from family, friends, peers, and people who truly connected with my work, without anyone feeling obligated to spend money for me.

That’s why this means so much. Every vote, share, message, and word of encouragement reminded me how powerful real community is. 🤍

I’ll be honest—this process is very different from what I’m used to.

Coming from the fine arts and juried exhibitions,
I’ve never had to rely on public voting
or expect my community to pay for support.

I come from a space where you earn your place.

That said…

The way you’ve all been showing up for me—daily—

I don’t usually do this publicly - I’ve been selected as a finalist for The People’s Artist, presented by Johnny Depp—and for the first time, the outcome isn’t decided behind closed doors. It’s decided in the open… by people. 😅

If you’ve followed my work, you know I tend to move in silence when it comes to fine art competitions—submitting privately, letting the work speak to appointed jurors. This is different. It challenges me to be visible, to share something I’ve typically kept close; to face my fears.

As a multidisciplinary artist rooted in contemporary sculptural jewelry, my work explores abstraction, ancient symbolism, and the unseen threads that connect us. A few of the pieces included in this slideshow span years of that exploration—from past to present.

Studying Van Gogh - This painting was rushed, so I didn’t have time to film. It’s due today. ☠️

Sharing a painting I’m currently working on ✨

For this project, I studied three artists—Gustav Klimt, George Condo, and Vincent van Gogh. In this clip, I focused on Condo.

I was drawn to Prismatic Portrait and chose to render it to really understand his process.

At first, I was honestly uncomfortable studying and painting the work of other artists—I’ve always valued originality. But this shifted my perspective. There’s real value in studying older works… you learn the techniques, then find a way to make them your own.

This piece pushed me—the level of precision it takes while still holding onto spontaneity and improvisation completely changed how I think about painting.

Looking deeper into Condo’s practice made that even clearer. George Condo studied and reworked techniques from Old Masters like Rembrandt, Francisco Goya, and Diego Velázquez—alongside Modernists like Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Willem de Kooning. You can really feel that influence, especially the connection to Cubism.

That kind of deep study is what shaped his voice—and it’s showing me how to refine mine.

Breaking it all down also made me realize how directly painting translates into my jewelry design. Composition, texture, color harmony… and especially that abstract, expressive approach to form. It’s the same mindset I use when creating wearable art.

Before jewelry, I started with painting—and I’m seeing now how connected it’s always been.

Looking back at some of my past posts. Wish I had more time to do shoot these narrative style videos. Nowadays, it’s just straight to the bench because my day job and finishing school take so much of my time.

With a background in performance and storytelling, I really miss composing videos of my jewelry design process. Eventually, I’ll get to a space where I’ll be able to do this again. I do what I can now.
