“The Long Haul of A. I. Bezzerides” and “Kiss Me Deadly” double feature tonight!
Join us tonight at 6:30 p.m. for a special double feature: the documentary THE LONG HAUL OF A.I. BEZZERIDES followed by 1955 film noir classic KISS ME DEADLY, introduced by author and screenwriter George Pelecanos.
FREE admission for all Silver Cinema Club members!
Executive produced by George Pelecanos (THE DEUCE, THE WIRE), Fay Efrosini Lellios' documentary THE LONG HAUL OF A.I. BEZZERIDES celebrates the life of singular artist A. I. Bezzerides: novelist, screenwriter, contemporary of William Faulkner and John Fante and the last of the proletariat poets. Bezzerides' cinematic output includes the screenplays for film noir classics THIEVES' HIGHWAY, ON DANGEROUS GROUND and KISS ME DEADLY, among others, and his novel "The Long Haul" was adapted into the 1940 hit THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT. The documentary features contributions by Pelecanos, filmmaker Jules Dassin, crime novelist Mickey Spillane, author and screenwriter Barry Gifford and more, with music by DC-based rockers Fugazi.
Robert Aldrich's cult classic film noir KISS ME DEADLY, from a screenplay by Buzz Bezzerides, stars Ralph Meeker as Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer, and is notable for its Atomic Age anxiety and over-the-top finale.
Featuring Nick Dennis, Juano Hernandez, Cloris Leachman, Maxine Cooper, Gaby Rodgers and Marian Carr.
