Hello again, Beechmont!
This is Barry, your neighborhood jeweler at Berkley Jewelers and Pawn. I wanted to share one of my latest recreations that I just finished for a very special customer—who was kind enough to let us post it here for all our Facebook friends and followers to see!
This was a truly unique and beautiful project. Our customer brought in four rings, and together, we reimagined them into two completely new, custom-designed pieces.
🔹 Ring #1: A Fusion of White and Yellow Gold
We started with a white gold ring featuring an emerald-cut diamond and a yellow gold solitaire ring. The customer had a special vision—she wanted the yellow gold ring to run through the center of the white gold ring.
To make this happen, I carefully removed the emerald-cut solitaire and then separated the white gold ring at the top. Next, I removed the round diamond from the yellow gold ring and began hand-forging a new design that would allow both metals to integrate seamlessly. This part was the biggest challenge—I reworked the design several times before I was happy with the result.
In the final version, I cut the yellow gold ring in half, reshaped and forged it to mold perfectly into the white gold structure. The result was a symmetrical, custom mounting that looked like it came straight from the factory—with both the emerald-cut and round diamond featured in the center. Our customer was thrilled!
🔹 Ring #2: Rope Ring Reinforced
The second project was a beloved rope-style ring that needed some structural support. I used her class ring and the original shank from the rope ring, melted them down into a gold bar, then hammered and rolled it into a thick gold band.
I then mounted the rope top onto the new band. It was a clean, straightforward job—but the best part is we used only her gold, no new materials needed! The new band gave her rope ring a stronger foundation and extended its life for many more years. Again, our customer was incredibly pleased.
