As a lot of you have seen, either on here or in our store, we have a new interactive display that helps people visualize their dream ring in a cool tactile way. There are so many different options and styles to look at, we are making a video to show all that off to you guys later, but I wanted to bring it up to give context to this fun cut I fell in love with using our interactive ring builder. First off a round brilliant cut diamond (the most popular cut sold) is amazing and classic and sparkly and all of the fabulous things, but, have you ever heard of a Portuguese cut? A round brilliant cut has around 58 facets, (which if you don't know what a facet is, they are the small flat polished surfaces of the diamond that catch the light and make them sparkle), where a Portuguese diamond has a facet range of 161-200+!!! that's dang near three times as much as a round brilliant cut! Now how does that make a difference? Its all in the movement that the diamond gets. More facets equals more sparkle. With the amount of facets that the Portuguese stone has, it means that the diamond size is on the larger end, and the smallest I saw them coming in at is 4 carat and up. If your interested in learning more about Portuguese diamonds, just diamonds in general, or want to see what one of these would look in a piece for yourself come on in and we can throw all of our awesome diamond knowledge at you! The video on the left is the Portuguese and the right is a round brilliant.
