Las coronas de catrinas or headpieces of a catrina is more than just an ornament: it is a symbol that transforms beauty into a message and the idea of death into art.
The elements could be endless, usually flowers are used to build them, others could be feathers, gemstones, and decorative elements that in Mexican culture can represent life, identity, remembrance, and the connection between the earthly and the spiritual.
The meaning depends on the elements chosen and the intention behind the design.
In this case the coronas are inspired by souls and their representation with monarch butterflies, cempasuchil flowers since the scent guide souls of our loves ones to their ofrendas, Touches of an idea of pre hispanic
"penachos" with references of feathers.
This collection also holds regular looking flowers of the season, since often the ofrendas for día de mu***os are decorated with flowers that the passed loved ones loved when they where alive.
Every " Corona" is different... it could be Inspired by classic elements but ideally you can add the uniqueness that you want, since the catrina reminds us that death doesn't erase our essence; it transforms it into memory, culture, and eternity.
Because a Catrina doesn't wear a crown to be a queen; she wears it to remind us that in death, we are all equal but we never stop being unique. 💀🌹❤️
