Summer jewelry PSA: take your gold and platinum jewelry off before getting in the pool.

A quick dip once in a while is usually not the end of the world, but prolonged or repeated exposure to chlorine can cause real damage over time. Chlorine can weaken the alloys mixed with gold and can affect solder joints, and prongs. Platinum is more resistant, but it is still not something we recommend wearing regularly in chlorinated water.

What does that mean long term? Prongs can become brittle, settings can loosen, and your jewelry may be more vulnerable to bending, cracking, or losing diamonds and gems.

Reminder: it is best to remove jewelry before the pool, hot tub, lake, gym, gardening, or heavy cleaning.
