Let’s Support Women and Children: Raise Funds for Shirley's House of Hope with Biblical Jewelry Collection!
One of my favorite things about my Biblical Jewelry Collection is the opportunity to connect with amazing people. I can truly say I enjoy getting to know the people for whom I make the jewelry just as much as I enjoy making the jewelry!
I would like to use my passion of making jewelry to help and support the mission of Shirley's House of Hope and with October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, what better time to do this?!
For those of you who are not familiar with Shirley's, they provide an emergency shelter for women and women with children who experience domestic violence or alcohol/drug related crisis.
In addition, they offer a 9-month program to assist women caught in the cycle of domestic abuse or alcohol/drug-related addictions. And they also provide a recovery center where women who graduate the 9 month program can transition in their recovery journey. It's pretty incredible, needed, and quite a blessing to have here in Marshfield!
To be vulnerable, I was not raised by my biological mother due to her substance abuse, and my father died at the young age of 54 from alcohol abuse. Even though he became sober for a year and a half before passing away, his alcohol use and my mother's substance abuse made quite an impact on me growing up.
Although therapy has helped me tremendously, I am still very much affected by the choices my parents made. It makes me sad thinking about my mother and everything she has missed out on in life due to not going through the necessary and proper recovery program she needed.
Her circumstances of living in a high-crime area in Indiana, her going through trauma from a teenager on until adulthood, and being raised in an era when speaking your voice and truth was not acceptable really did not set her up for success and true recovery. She lost her daughters, her family, and everything she had hoped to have.
Not every community is fortunate enough to have a shelter and programs in place for women and children like Shirley's House of Hope. For those of us who live in Marshfield and the surrounding area, whether you need their services or not, you definitely know someone in your community who could utilize the support from Shirley's, even if you don't know their specific struggles.
When I was initially going to school, I wanted to be a therapist. I have always had a passion for caring for people and truly trying to understand why we are the way we are. Even though I shifted into a different career path, I am still aware that no matter what someone's background is or their life circumstances, we all just want to be loved, heard, and cared for.
Shirley's House of Hope believes this too and this is why I am offering to donate 15% of my sales to Shirley's House of Hope when people come to my Etsy shop and purchases from me.
How It Works: When you place an order from my Etsy shop between October 22nd and October 25th (Thursday-Sunday until 11:59 p.m.), I will donate 15% of those sales to Shirley's House of Hope!
The Simple Step: When checking out on Etsy, please use the "Add a note to BiblicalJewelryCo" box and type "Shirley's House of Hope," or you can message me privately on Etsy right after purchasing! But please make sure you do so, as I receive other orders from customers on Etsy!
Very Important: Because I receive other orders through Etsy, I will extend my processing time to up to 10 days to account for the possible volume of orders. I want to make sure I allocate enough time to make each order while balancing the outside orders I receive through Etsy.
Give Back: At the end of the timeframe, I will tally up those specific orders and donate 15% of the total sales directly back to Shirley's House of Hope! Jewelry makes a beautiful, meaningful gift, and now it can help fuel an amazing cause, too!
With gratitude,
Erin ❤
