Good morning! This is a fun, bloggy post, rather than a sales post!
When it comes to working with jewelry, but ESPECIALLY when working with polymer clay jewelry, you get used to some difficult aspects and LOTS of random curveballs. From a bubble that was hidden in your rolled out clay that didn't show itself until AFTER you spent an hour baking the damn thing, to clay that appears one color before baking and then darkens like 15 shades after baking, to dealing with very complicated and small jewelry findings.... creation is unpredictable.
Having patient and understanding customers that support your craft and appreciate your work for what it is TRULY makes a WORLD of difference.
I wanted to post a HUGE shout out to the customer who ordered this custom necklace, who immediately stated "I totally get it if this request is too much", but was beyond thrilled when I responded "let's see what I can do". She wanted this custom mama and baby birds necklace. It was truly a labor of love, and let me just show you via this photo series, HOW INSANELY SMALL THE FINDINGS WERE. That little ring on my table vs. my fingernail shows you how tiny the findings were in the chain that I was disassembling and reassembling to make this necklace work.
Let me just say, for the AVERAGE person, that would have been a difficult task. Now tack on a chronic illness that attacks your muscles, leading to tremors and sometimes complete disuse of your fingers, and EVERYTHING can become a serious challenge. BUT, we did it.
Additionally, this customer, when I quoted them the price based on materials, time, and effort didn't bat a single eyelash at it. She never balked, and stated that she truly believed my work was stunning and worth every penny.
Customers like that are simply the very best, and I truly LOVE doing work like this for her!
I only have one more piece to complete, which may prove to be my most challenging yet. But, honestly, I'm looking forward to the challenge now, simply because it is a labor of love at this point for someone as awesome, supportive, and understanding as YOU!
