Fortunately I have had projects to work on during this time. This 1953 Gibson LG-1 was in reasonable condition albeit the back was missing, the top braces were falling off, and the tuners buttons rotted, etc. I was able to remedy these deficiencies and it turned out quite nicely. I upgraded the top bracing to an X pattern and it sounds great.

Here are the latest projects from the custom shop. The six-string is semi-hollow with three original DeArmond gold foil pickups made in Toledo in the 60’s. The jazz bass has stacked k**b controls, titanium bridge saddles and is very light at 8lbs 1oz.

Recently had a 54 Les Paul custom in for a refret, nut and bridge rebuild to make it playable. It turned out quite nice....

Recently had a 54 Les Paul custom in for a refret, nut and bridge rebuild to make it playable. It turned out quite nice. Next to it is my version of a 54 Strat Hardtail with Fender custom shop pickups. Weighs in at 7lbs 1oz. Hardtails are favorites of JB and KWS.

This D18 came in with a nasty crack in the side. I used the new, improved crack repair tools to fix it. The last picture has a lot of odd reflections but after the finish touch up the crack is nearly invisible.

I have been doing more stainless steel fret jobs lately. Here’s a Taylor that was just completed with ss. Also a Strat with gold EVO wire that is in between stainless and nickel silver for hardness. Both are super smooth and guaranteed to last a long time.
