We’ve been advocating the “Fit first, buy later” method for decades. However most shops are not equipped with a fitting “jig” and if they are, like in the video below you need to have someone who is knowledgeable enough to 1.) get the rider in an optimal position 2.) test all relavant variables: crank length, saddles, handlebar width etc 3.) be able to interpret data to prescribe future purchases. For example the fitting bike used in this video does not even have the brake hoods installed.
