The Ceylon is available in both Patina or Polished finishes in sizes 8 to 16.75 and in all quarter sizes in between.

The 5 Rupee Ceylon ring is made from a .925 sterling silver coin which is widely recognized to be one of the most desirable and beautiful commemorative coins in the world.

In 1957 the Ceylon (modern-day Sri Lanka) government issued a 5 Rupee silver coin celebrating 2,500 years of Buddhism. Sadly, the government recalled 258,000 of the original 500,000 mintage to be melted down for their silver, and only a small portion survived. Most that remain reside in private collections whose owners refuse to part with them.

The obverse features the numeral 2500 at the center with Flower petals around in inner annulus, then a ring with a procession of elephant, horse, lion, and bull (2 sequences), then a ring of sixteen geese, with lotus flowers hanging from their beaks, and a final ringed design. Many believe this represents the endless circle of life, or more likely, the idea that we must learn our lessons or be doomed to repeat them.

The reverse design has a Jasmine flower surmounted by a Lotus flower. The value in Sinhala and the year of issue 1957 is superimposed at the center. The value “FIVE RUPEES” in English on left and Tamil on right and in Sinhala “Sri Lanka” at the apex and the anniversary “Buddha Jayanthi” at the bottom.

Morgan dollars are made from 90% silver and were minted from 1878 to 1904, and then again in 1921. It was the first standard silver dollar minted since the passage of the Coinage Act of 1873.

The Morgan Dollar is named after its designer, United States Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan. The obverse depicts a profile portrait representing Liberty, while the reverse depicts an eagle with wings outstretched.

In the early 1960s, a large quantity of uncirculated Morgan dollars in their original bags was discovered in the Treasury vaults, including issues once thought rare. Individuals began purchasing large quantities of the pieces at face value and then removed them from circulation through hoarding, and eventually, the Treasury ceased exchanging silver certificates for silver coin.

Beginning in the 1970s, the Treasury conducted a sale of silver dollars minted at the Carson City Mint. The Carson City Morgan’s were minted from silver taken from the famous Comstock Lode in Virginia City, Nevada (then western Utah Territory).
