A little everyday luxury, thoughtfully handcrafted. 🌿
One of the things I appreciate about carrying handcrafted skincare is discovering the creativity and care that goes into making even the most ordinary products.
This beautiful Skywoman Body Scrub is made by Sequoia Soaps, an Indigenous woman-owned company founded in 2002 by Michaelee Lazore, who is Mohawk and Northern Paiute.
Inspired by the Haudenosaunee story of Skywoman, the scrub combines pure cane sugar and organic olive oil with a lovely citrus and floral fragrance featuring notes of plumeria.
Unlike a traditional sugar scrub, this emulsified formula transforms into a lotion-like consistency when mixed with water. The sugar crystals gradually dissolve as you massage the scrub onto your skin.
I also love Sequoia’s story. Michaelee began making soaps in her kitchen while working as an engineer. Her passion for creating beautiful, handcrafted products eventually led her to pursue soapmaking full-time.
Today, Sequoia continues to design, produce, and package its products in its own studio, with an emphasis on thoughtfully sourced ingredients and sustainable production.
