The Girls and I will be at the Midwest Fire Fest this weekend! I'll be doing demos, and the Girls will naturally be modeling some lovely creations.
While you're at the Midwest Fire Fest you can enjoy art created with fire, demonstrations, an iron pour, music, fire dancers (the Girls wish they had these moves), and try your hand at some blacksmithing. Great fun for everyone!
Fire meets finesse. Watch Julie Raasch of Aistheta Jewelry transform metal into beautiful nature-inspired handcrafted wearable art. She’ll be selling her little creations at Midwest Fire Fest, as well as demonstrating fold-forming, where metal is repeatedly heated with a torch between folding, unfolding, forging, and forming it. Etching and traditional metalsmith techniques are often combined with the folding of the metal, and gorgeous stones, beads, and found objects are sometimes included. Each piece of jewelry is a small sculptural piece of wearable art that celebrates the natural world...and fire!
