Gold goes over the $5000 mark.

Gold shooting up to $4300 an OZ. It is alarming to the ones not keeping track that prices of repairs, new merchandise etc. is alarmingly double or triple what it used to be.

The lighted clock was hanging in a Bolivar Mo. antique store, a friend purchased it after calling me, we met up and I reimbursed him for it, and adds to the collection. Every clock I paid for except one. Bill Sellers gave me the one he had hanging in his business, but the rest I paid for. The last picture was the first purchasedat a Neosho antique store, back in the 90’s. I was proud and showed my Grandfather, he laughed and turned it over and revealed a card that said “owned by Matters Jewelry, if broke or not using please return”. I bought it from someone who didnt even own it!!! Lol. And so the purchasing of clocks continues which technically I own already…..lol. Although they were given out in the 50’s and 60’s, I dont mind so much to have the family history and a story or two. They now hang in the home of the 5th generations wall.

While watching the History Channel about Sony, I remember a story about Dad….
He went to Bradly University in Illinois, and as the last graduating class for the Watch making school of Horology in the 60’s, the entire class around 20 of them, were hired to go to Texas. Their job was to make a handheld calculator. At that time it was the size of a room. So Texas Instruments was the first to have the handheld calcultor made by a bunch of watchmakers.
