K. Downs Works of Heart 100% Handcrafted Jewelry There is only one true type of "Genuine Sea Glass" and it is produced naturally by the sea. This natural process takes many, many years.

Shards of glass from broken bottles, broken tableware or even shipwrecks are rolled and tumbled in the ocean until all of their edges are rounded off, and the glass has been worn to a frosted appearance. Some pieces have spent hundreds of years tumbling along the sea floor before finding its way to the shore. Sea Glass has become extremely rare with more focus on recycling and the production of plastic containers. Jewelry made with Genuine Sea Glass is perhaps one of the most beautiful forms of “up-cycling.”
