The Axis Ring was inspired by a map marker and my lifelong dream of traveling. For the past eight months, I’ve been doing exactly that. Traveling without a set plan, letting one place lead me to the next. I’ve experienced so many firsts this year, and being away has given me a lot of time to reflect on where I’ve been, where I’m going, and ultimately, what I want for M / M. More on that in the coming weeks.

When I look at this ring now, I can still remember exactly where I was when I sketched it out, and everything that was going through my mind at the time. I was looking for an escape. A way to change direction. To step outside of the life I had and see what else was out there.

Funny how much can change when you stop standing in your own way. (Something I have to keep reminding myself of.)

What started as a symbol of wanting to find somewhere else has become something entirely different. Now, the Axis Ring feels like a reminder to follow your own path. That even when there isn’t a clear destination, a map, or any guarantee of where it will lead, it’s okay to step into the unknown.

Sometimes you just have to choose a direction and start moving.

One of the hardest parts of being an artist isn’t creating the work, it’s promoting it. Social media can be a powerful tool, but the constant pressure to show up, post consistently, and market your work can be draining. When so much creative energy is spent promoting your work, it can leave you feeling less motivated to create new pieces.

After a much-needed break from social media, I’m coming back with a fresh perspective. Instead of seeing posting as an obligation, I’m viewing it as an opportunity to get these designs in front of people who will appreciate them. There is a lot in the pipeline and I’m excited to share more in the upcoming weeks.

I’ve never been a minimalist, I’ve always loved styling and stack pieces until I find a combination I don’t want to take off. Once I build a stack, it becomes my signature. I sleep in it, work in it, let it move with me through everything.

It stays that way for weeks, sometimes months, until I design something new and the whole process starts over. A new combination, a new rhythm, a new piece to bear witness to my day-to-day and then those pieces becomes reminders of that chapter of my life.

Do you stick to one signature stack, or are you constantly changing it up?
