The very essence of a native New Yorker, Cynthia entered the fashion industry making bespoke jewelry for Isaac Mizrahi and launching her first collection in 1987. Her designs attracted a cult following and appeared on the runways of New York's premier designers, including Bill Blass and Oscar De La Renta. Cynthia Rybakoff jewelry was carried in top retailers including Barney's, Neiman Marcus and S

aks Fifth Avenue, and graced the pages of leading fashion tomes of the late 80's and early 90's. Something of a phenomenon in the ever changing fashion industry, Cynthia has remained not just relevant, but at the forefront of the industry, designing jewelry for herself and others, including corporate stints at Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger and a collaboration with Club Monaco. Cynthia re-established her signature brand in 2007, evolving her organic style to the sleek Modern Essentials she's known for today. Peek inside my SS26 jewelry lookbook. This season I was inspired by the cloud-like softness and sculptural quality of baroque pearls. The centerpiece of the collection is a one-of-a-kind giant baroque pearl pendant that formed, entirely on its own, in the shape of a female torso. Nature doing most of the designing there, slides 1 & 2.

The shoot was a beauty and styling collab with .nora.s. Nora, who was also my model, brings not only a sharp jawline and flawless skin, but also a preternatural skill with eye makeup.

Also debuting this season: hand-carved wood and sculpted clay with gold leaf from the CR Archive, circa early 1990s.

Rare look book images from Spring 1988 featuring and CR Archive jewelry in matte white carved wood.

These were among the first editorial images of my jewelry, and the earliest examples of my oversized primitive “Wilma Flintstone” style hand-carved wood jewelry.

When Isaac gave me these black and white photographic prints, I was so inspired by his clothes. I was a painter who made jewelry on the side and had never collaborated with a fashion designer before. I’ll never forget the racks of colorful garments in his pristine white loft.

Not long after, when my jewelry took off, I left behind 18 years of painting and drawing to focus on jewelry design for the next 40. I’ll always have Isaac to thank for what came next.
