ARTIST BIO

Alice Butunoi was born in Romania, and grew up in the capital of Bucharest. As a child she was very fortunate to be exposed to many wonderful cultural events which impacted her in great ways, and later on inspired her to earn a Master's degree in architecture. After moving to the United States, in 1992, Alice enrolled in the illustration program at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Des

ign in Denver, CO and her career has been a collection of shifts, diverging from architecture to fine arts and illustration, to graphic design and advertising. Along the way architecture has been a great teacher. It helped her discover the process of working from abstract to real, and how to tap into the universal design rules that govern and guide the visual arts and reapply them in unique and innovative ways in her new line of work: jewelry design. ARTIST STATEMENT

My love for jewelry recently put me on this new path leading to a place of conception buried deep within me. A poetic and vividly visual place where abstract visions form, where Impulse, Instinct, Creativity and Intuition, ebb and flow, take turns, contend and concert ultimately giving way to Objects of Adornment glowing with Love. This love is at the center of my work, it motivates me, it helps me shape and refine my creations, develop new designs and it defines the romantic personality of my brand. As a designer I strive to bring before the viewer engaging, memorable pieces that bypass ephemera and fashion trends: jewelry that is evocative, authentic, and timeless.
