5.81 ct. in four pear-shaped Mozambique rubies, made into a mirrored drop earring with a hexagonal diamond between each pair.

It's the same design as the emerald earrings we posted last night but when you change the stone, the whole character of the piece changes.

The emeralds are cool and lit from within; these are warm and dense, almost dark in shadow and bright red where the light lands.

Green or Red? Tell us which you would wear.

Emeralds are individualists and two stones can differ in their green, in how light moves through them, in the way a pear shape sits.

Finding one fine pear-shaped emerald is a search in it of itself....finding four that agree with each other in color, proportion and outline is a different job.

Each of these Zambian emeralds was certified individually by GRS, then assembled into two balanced pairs. Between them sit hexagonal diamonds, an emerging Mark Henry Icon, which brings crisp geometry against the saturated green of the emeralds.

Each stone is stone is special but the real rarity here isn't one stone, it's the match.

Pigeon blood is an old trade term for a very particular red: deep, saturated, and glowing. GRS applies it only to a narrow range of rubies.

This 2.34-carat trillion from Mozambique is one of them and it has also never been heated. Heating is common in rubies and is used to improve color but this stone came out of the ground this red.

The setting is Aurum, one of our best-loved collections and made entirely by hand inour New York workshop. If you already wear a piece of it, you'll recognise the gold. Here it's scaled up around one very serious stone.

These two never quite meet, and that's the whole charm of it.

A marquise emerald from Zambia on one side and an elongated marquise diamond on the other. It's the kind of ring you end up turning on your finger without noticing.

Want to see it on a hand? Message us and we'll send a video.

Green at the top, blue at the bottom, and a hexagonal diamond keeping the peace in between.

The sapphires are where it gets serious. Together they weigh 5.23 carats, and they're certified (Bellerophon) as a matched pair of Royal Blue sapphires with vivid color and no clarity enhancement. In plain terms: a deep, saturated blue, and nothing done to either stone to hide what's inside.

Finding one sapphire like that takes time. Finding its twin is the real work.

If you know someone who'd notice the difference, send this their way.

If you've ever seen a Paraíba tourmaline in person, you know a photo doesn't quite do it.

The color is electric, a greenish blue that seems lit from somewhere behind the stone which comes from the copper content in it. It's what gives Paraíba tourmaline its neon glow, and why nothing else in the tray looks like it.

This pear shaped Paraiba is 2.67 carats, from Mozambique, and it's been documented by Gübelin, GIA and GRS, three of the most respected gem labs in the world.

We set it in pleated gold, folded almost like fabric. A stone this bright needs a frame with some weight to it.

Message us and we'll send you the video. It's the closest thing to holding it.

What makes this Emerald Cut Sapphire interesting is that it's long. Longer than an emerald cut usually runs and you end up wanting to follow the royal blue all the way down like you're looking into water.

We didn't want anything fussing around it, so the diamonds on the shoulders are cut the same way and set right into the band, each one a little smaller than the last.

This one is spoken for.

We're showing it anyway, because a stone like this should be seen, and because it tells you what we look for.

6.92 carats of Zambian emerald that Guild graded "Verdant Green," a designation the lab reserves for a select few stones in what it considers the finest range of natural emerald color. Only minor clarity enhancement. Size, color and restraint in treatment don't often arrive together in one emerald.

It has gone to its new home. The search it came from hasn't stopped.
If you've been looking for a stone like this, tell us what you have in mind and we'll start looking.

A marquise emerald and an elongated diamond, set at opposing angles on a sculptural gold bypass, as if orbiting each other. The same shape with two opposite ideas:one stone all color, the other all light.

Ask us for a video on the hand.
