In October 2025, thieves broke into the Louvre and stole eight pieces of royal jewelry. They almost took a ninth, the ornate 1855 crown of Empress Eugénie, but dropped it on the sidewalk as they ran away. Now, a team of top jewelry experts from Cartier, Boucheron, and Van Cleef & Arpels is working together to restore it to its former glory.
