🎶just a little cat, doing normal little-cat things🎶

(That’s my workbox, and she’s casually keeping it closed with both forepaws so I’ll stop working and pay attention to her like a good human. Her compatriot, meanwhile, is occupying my hallmark book, and yes, I mean that in the militaristic sense.)

I blame myself, honestly. I never should have read them “The Tinder-Box.” Clearly TQP’s takeaway was, ““… so if I’m a sufficiently LARGE housepet and I claim a box full of treasure, I’m magic … ?”

Visited Di Donna Galleries for their marvelous exhibition of “Dali: The Great Years” with one of my oldest friends today, and was particularly taken with this mixed media bust of a woman, adorned with the fruits of the harvest, wearing an explosion of ants like a patchbox of beauty marks communicating in code. Rather Ceres-like, isn’t she?

Entertaining myself by trying to place this lovely featuring what seems to be a , rather than the traditional : the slightly blurry maker’s mark looks to me like it’s likely that of , or possibly , though also seems like a strong contender on the basis of his body of work. Things we have learned during our first week: laps are safe to venture onto even if we aren’t invited, we ♥️ 🐓, and that “elevator down” means “step onto the shoulder to get from the loft bed to the ground.”

Things we are working on: that all variants of “Theodora,” “Pearl,” “Theodora Pearl,” and “is a good squirrel” mean us, that “elevator UP” is the exact and opposite command to “elevator down,” and “that’s not yours” when in reference to tooks, beading silk, beads and jewelry in general.

As a jeweler, my ability to resist adopting a jewel-themed feline was nil. Meet shelter-dubbed Pearl, official new full name Theodora Q. Pearl.

(The “Q” is for “quahog,” which was my go-to example to a friend as I explained my rabbit-holing fascination as I tried to figure out the ancestry: it came from the same place as my need to cram new info about weird gemological phenomenon like or … hence kitty getting a qualifier.)
