Stumbled upon this from, jeez, 8-9 years ago. This was just a test shot before the model arrived for a crazy green screen shoot I did for jewelry.

Hindsight Takeaway: I love my schnoz! So many people want to change the part of their face that is actually the secret key of their unique, recognizable beauty and my nose has definitely been the part I wished I could change. But now I look at this and think oh hell no! That’s ME.

Have you started thinking about Valentine’s Day yet? My husband has to really think outside the box, since I do both jewerly AND floral design. Fortunately he’s pretty creative. Right now I’m just thinking about all my single friends out there in these lonely times. We gotta let them know they are loved too. Hmmmm, percolating on this.

🧐Did you know! In 1933, Marlene Dietrich was notified she would be arrested upon docking in Paris if she wore her trademark trousers. She wore them anyway. Note in the photo that the police chief had her by the arm, but she led the way off the docks, where a private discussion was held. There was no arrest, and Dietrich offered to attend a police charity event on her trip, hosted by that chief of police.

Apparently it was still technically illegal for women to wear pants in France until 2013! I’m currently doing research on US laws, some of which were also changed embarrassingly recently.

Artemis necklace in Sterling. I’ve been reflecting a lot on what I make, and for many designers (myself included) it’s very difficult to speak about our own work because it comes with the baggage of disappointments and what we aspire to make in the future. But I think I’ve come to understand this “signature look” I’ve honed - that it is delicate and fragile, yet significant and armor-like. That it reflects my entire story, and the story of so many - great fears and challenges overcome by will and deep wells of inner strength. And I feel this one feeling about it all. Proud.

Did you know that multi-strand necklaces, bucket hats, and athletic wear are the hep teenager fashions right now? (My niece teaches me a lot). The combination defies all logic, but so did my overalls, pixie cut, and rings on every finger in the 90’s. Sigh! I just love teens!

Talk about adapting to circumstances, during the pandemic, Jen had to close her NYC makeup boutique, but decided to create “The Sun Room”, a by-appointment micro boutique, in part of her apartment. How ninja princess is that? The name Sun Room reflects her entire being - letting the positivity in and out of her in a steady, constant flow. Eternity Drop Necklace. This is interesting - I tend to wear something this fabulous when I either need to find my strength and power, or when I am already feeling completely confident. That’s why I think jewelry isn’t just aesthetic, but is a representation of our inner state. And if your inner state is wavering, you must “put on” power in order to bring it forth from inside. If you are feeling supremely confident, jewelry is an affirmation of yourself. Does that make sense?
