Will you start living your life at 65?
Will you have the energy, the health, and the opportunity that you may have today?
I wasnât allowed to sit and relax. Sitting was seen as lazy and there was always âso much to doâ. There would never be enough if I didnât work hard and always be doingâŚsomething.
I remember vividly when I started working. I was 9 and I was a Motherâs Helper (do they still have those)? By 11, I was babysitting and tutoring Hooked On Phonics (remember that)? Oh, and I was a waitress (ask me how that was OK)?
I worked two jobs for almost my entire life, through high school, then college and then stopped when I got my âBig Girlâ job on Madison Ave in NYC. I thought I made it. I worked and schlepped from Brooklyn in an environment that only now we can coin âtoxicâ. I needed out.
Fast forward, moved to Dallas, worked in digital search and advertising, and continued the burnout. Hustled on the side as a jewelry designer for brides and destination weddings.
Moved to Florida and declared I AM AN ENTREPRENEUR!
If the last decade has taught me anything, health is wealth, a company is not an identity, and use your good years to do great things.
A balanced life is the most underrated luxury one can have. Grateful to build, design, and be inspired, all while realizing THESE are the great years.
Take the adventure, donât devote your life to a company, and let life reveal all the magic it has in store. Iâm still not great at sitting, but embroidery is forcing it â¨
Are you feeling the balance or feeling completely out of whack?
