Most people have no idea what it takes to prepare for a major gem/jewelry show as an exhibitor. The reality is that it requires a tremendous investment of time, energy, and money long before the doors even open.
For many exhibitors, a significant portion of their inventory is tied up for two weeks or more before, during and after the show. That means missed opportunities, delayed sales, and a substantial financial commitment; with the hope that the event will generate enough business to make it worthwhile.
Each year, the costs of exhibiting continue to rise, making it increasingly challenging for dealers to justify participating. This year, we saw a noticeable number of exhibitors choose not to attend, and with growing expenses, tariffs, and other economic pressures, that trend may continue in the years ahead.
